| Description : | If you don't mind a heavy dose of schmaltz and sentiment, this romantic comedy has a gentle way of seducing you with its charms. While You Were Sleeping was the first starring role for Sandra Bullock after her blockbuster success in Speed. In a role that nicely emphasizes her easygoing appeal, Bullock is the reason the movie works at all. She plays Lucy Eleanor Moderatz, a Chicago Transit tollbooth clerk who's hopelessly smitten with a daily commuter, Peter Callaghan (Peter Gallagher). She saves the object of her affection from certain death after he's mugged and falls onto the train tracks. While Peter is in a coma, she lets his family believe that she is his fiancée, and surprisingly finds herself drawn to his brother (Bill Pullman), for whom the attraction is definitely mutual. How Lucy gets out of this amorous predicament is what makes this pleasant movie less predictable than its familiar ingredients would initially indicate. It's feel-good fluff, with characters and performances that keep you smiling through the drippy plot mechanics. --Jeff Shannon |

| Description : | My Neighbor Totoro is that rare delight, a family film that appeals to children and adults alike. While their mother is in the hospital, 10-year-old Satsuki and 4-year-old Mei move into an old-fashioned house in the country with their professor father. At the foot of an enormous camphor tree, Mei discovers the nest of King Totoro, a giant forest spirit who resembles an enormous bunny rabbit. Mei and Satsuki learn that Totoro makes the trees grow, and when he flies over the countryside or roars in his thunderous voice, the winds blow. Totoro becomes the protector of the two sisters, watching over them when they wait for their father, and carrying them over the forests on an enchanted journey. When the children worry about their mother, Totoro sends them to visit her via a Catbus, a magical, multilegged creature with a grin the Cheshire Cat might envy. Unlike many cartoon children, Satsuki and Mei are neither smart-alecky nor cloyingly saccharine. They are credible kids: bright, energetic, silly, helpful, and occasionally impatient. Filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki makes the viewer believe the two sisters love each other in a way no American feature has ever achieved. My Neighbor Totoro is enormously popular in Japan, and some of the character merchandise has begun to appear in America. The film has also inspired a Japanese environmental group to buy a Totoro Forest preserve in the Saitama Prefecture, where Miyazaki's film is set. --Charles Solomon |

Some of these concepts are very amusing as individuals try to use the controversy to push their personal philosophy on others. Some of my favorites are: They're here to punish us for throwing away aluminum cans and not recycling. They are bad, evil etc. They are good, nice, kind etc. They see us as a threat to the universe and want to exterminate us. We're their food. They want to mate with us because... They want to make us their slaves. As long as there is money to be made there will be movies about UFOs and aliens. |

Karen created a workout that uses every part of your body, and I never felt healthier afterwards. In two weeks, I was addicted and I can't wait for my dvd to arrive so I can start again. My abs, arms, and legs looked amazing. Best of all, Karen isn't annoying and perky and doesn't have that annoying techno music, so if you are into that, then this video will not appeal to you. However, if you just want someone to kick your butt, it is. |

| Reviews : { Rating: 3.5 out of 5 } | Early life & loves of Coco Chanel: When you compare this film to recent subpar efforts to film Coco Chanel's life, such as Lifetime TV channel's "Chanel" movie with Shirley MacLaine (hideously fictionalized & badly acted) and "Coco Before Chanel" (meh, two out of five stars), CHANEL SOLITAIRE still shines brightest. CHANEL SOLITAIRE tells the story of Chanel's early life and loves dramatically and with romantic flair; in fact, I equate watching this movie to reading a good romantic novel. Marie-France Pisier as Coco gives a thoughtful, at times touching performance, particularly in her angry scene with Timothy Dalton near the end. Pisier shows Chanel in all her intelligent, independent, stubborn nature, and yet conveys her longing for someone to depend on. Timothy Dalton as Boy Capel (Coco's great love) and Rutgar Hauer as Etienne Balsan, are well cast and give solid performances. And this movie's got a great soundtrack. Is CHANEL SOLITAIRE a great movie - no. But it's a well crafted; well performed, I want-to-watch-a-romantic-tearjerker, of a movie. |
