The 1 year old does like them, especially the crinkly fish, but her older sister almost never lets her play with them! She has named the blue fish 'Dory', the red fish 'Marlin' and the green fish 'Nemo' and the big fish is "Bruce, the shark". Obviously a Nemo fan, but still it has sparked endless play for her. These are a great inexpensive toy and extremely durable. And for anyone who is worried about the big fish pinching fingers, then just take it away and let little ones play with the 3 fish. Then when they are older and can open and close without harm then give the big fish to them. My 3 year old has not once pinched her fingers in the past year. Highly reccomend! |

Amazon calls this toy appropriate for a child of 12 months, probably savvy to the average consumer's belief that his child or grandchild is certainly exceptional. Well, the box says 18 months, and even that's pushing things a bit. No doubt Francesco Cafiso (the saxophone prodigy who was playing like Charlie Parker on international jazz stages at the age of 12) could pull it off, but it's not a no-brainer. First of all, there are 6 balls that have to be kept track of. Fewer than 5 won't keep the ball-replacement principle in action. Moreover, the balls are not contained by any track or groove--they have a tendency to bounce off the assembly line and to be chased down by the cat, who doesn't always feel obliged to return them. (Hence, the stingy 4 stars for durability.) Secondly, it requires a well-placed tap to a round object to effect the desired response: the replacement of one ball by another. 3rdly, it requires knowing left from right, or understanding the difference between input and output--not by necessity but by reason or intuition. 4thly, it requires color discernment to be able to appreciate the miraculous replacement of a lime ball by a magenta sphere (come to think of it, what 18-month-year-old knows, or needs to know, "magenta"?). Still, it's a home-spun product (despite the Sesame Street tag) designed and manufactured in a home-spun way (though comparing this thing to a cookie factory is what poets would call a "conceit" if not a stretch). It's fun for the parent/grandparent to play, and it holds the attention of the little one for a good 10 minutes. (More, when she participates in the pounding.) By age two, the child should have it mastered, and it's rugged enough that by the time grandpa gets sent to the home, he'll have all he can handle hitting the magenta ball let alone remembering its name. |

A week later i thought it would be a great gift and went back for it, no longer there. I looked for a few weeks different stores, nothing. Put a couple bids on it on ebay, outbid. Walked into walmart, there it was, almost missed it, gave up looking. Needless to say my son was with me so I didn't get to put it away as a gift but he started playing with it then, in the cart, and has continued since. He'll be 2 in August,07. He is a huge cars fan and all I have heard since we got this is mater yelling out of it, which is funny. It makes cool copter sounds when it propells. It can also roll as a vehicle. Not much storage in it, another car or two. Very durable as my kid likes to bang and crash vehicles. Glad to have been lucky enough to found it before a vulture bought it for resale. |

I know he wanted more legos but I wanted to buy him something a little different. We took it outside right away and he didn't have much interest as I was setting it up (which takes about 2 minutes) but when we turned on the water he went crazy with delight. He laughed and ran and played for 2 hours. My 10-year-old son that also didn't have much initial interest saw how fun his little brother was having and he joined in. I could barely get them to come in the house! I really haven't seen my kids have this much fun with a toy in years. They have been creative and done other silly things with it but the most amazing thing is to see the rocket shoot up in the air with the water stream. We have had two people driving by and actually stop their cars to get out and look at the toy and ask us what it was and where I got it. My 6-year-old had a 4-year-old friend come over today and they played with the rocket for over an hour until the 4-year-olds mom came to pick him up and she loved the toy so much she said she was going to run home and order one. This was the best $[...] investment! |

My daughter owns other Care Bears from mini to ones bigger than her. This one was 13" tall when standing, super soft, like a Gund Bear, and also had a light blueberry scent, but not nearly as strong as the Strawberry Shortcake dolls. The DVD was only 24 minutes and contained 2 stories. It was a nice extra bonus. I would highly recommend this quality Care Bear to all fans. |

I looked at all the kits, most of which were about $30, and this one has all the basics and was a great price. After reading other reviews, I decided to purchase this one. Everyone else was right - this kit is great. My daughter loves carrying it around and taking everyone's blood pressure and wears her stethoscope around her neck all day. She loves it. Regardless, it's a nice plush. The fur is exceptionally soft, and the embroidery on the belly is a nice touch. The fact that it comes with an accompanying dvd would make any child fall for this bear easily. Lacks the mint scent that it boasts on its tag. This is a minor detail though. |
