After trying in many different angles from the rear of the camera I found that it doesn't work every time from a straight on angle from the rear. It does work at a lower angle pointing upward towards the bottom right side of the D5000 and sometimes it works from behind the camera by holding the remote button and making a circular motion. Bright light seems to affect the rear operation also. Needless to say I use a window mount on my vehicle and aim the remote at the bottom right side and it works every time. I'm sure everyone's experience will vary. You get a remote for 10 bucks that works...You can't beat that! I also assigned the FN button to control shutter settings, makes for a quick and easy switch with the thumb wheel while holding the FN button. The window mount and the remote makes a great combo for low light conditions with long shutter speeds for landscapes, sunsets, real estate, etc. Great little gadget, very happy with my purchase. |
