After a couple of months of reading reviews and researching different cameras I ordered the Lumix from Amazon after looking at it in a retail store. This camera is just what I was looking for. I liked the controls on this one best and it's very easy to use and small enough to fit in my purse. I have a lot of grandchildren and like the point and shoot feature and can take one picture after another quickly. The pictures are very clear. I love the red color and it was a great price. Nothing I dislike about this camera. I highly recommend it.

I recently got HTC Desire and wanted to bump up storage to its limit. After price comparision I was sure that 32GB will be too expensive and hence I settled for 16GB Card. I have loads of SD Cards for my cameras, MP3 players and mobile phones - and all are SanDisk - they are the best - hence SanDisk was obvious choice.

I was not sure if 'Class 2' stamp on this card will make my phone slow. But I still went ahead and bought this one. Surprisingly - apart from my SanDisk Extreme III SD card, this is the only card which my laptop says capable of running ReadyBoost. (Extreme III is Class 6). Hence to all those who are not sure about Class 2 - don't worry - its awesome card and will never slow down your mobile phone.
FYI - Like all other microSD card I have, I used this in my DSLR, and this one worked fine without any noticable lag etc. Also using it on my Desire with all my music library and it works flawless.

When I looked at "The best ultra compacts" list of the SnapSort web site ( [...])
I found out this camera as #1 within this category. I was excited that this small size camera has a very good characteristics and bought it.
Within 1st week I made about 450 shots and was very disappointed.

Cons:
Small, handy camera, easy to operate, good price.
Not bad low light image quality.
Good videos.
Good quality of construction.
Looks like a good toy.

Pros:
BAD image quality for the following situations:
1. Flat and discolored people faces (outdoor shooting)
2. The glare is very strong in high noon sun.
3. Softness and discoloring on trees and grass images.

So, this is good camera when using indoor, but, on my opinion is not good for outdoor shooting involving people or using the Portrait mode.
I lost my Olympus C7000 2 months ago. My Olympus did not have any new functions such as image stabilization, wide-angle lenses, high ISO settings, etc, but had a SUPER image quality and broad range of manual settings. (Unfortunately Olympus don't have now any new cameras to replace my beloved C7000).
I returned SD1400 back and bought the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3. It's more expensive but image quality is just INCREADIBLE for both outdoor and indoor shooting.

Just got the camera, and so far so good. nice quality photos and innovative features. But it reacts a little slower than I hoped for - my 7 year old Sony is about the same speed - albeit 1/3 the mega pixels. But I'm a little disapointed that a camera touting HDMI output requires me to get cable separately (they include an analog style red/white/yellow cable like what you used with a VCR) So I will have to wait for the accessory cable to arrive to see how my photos and videos look on the 50" plasma. I skipped the canon brand $40 HDMI and ordered a $4 no name brand. Keep in mind this is mini hdmi to hdmi. I jut feel that for the price $329 they could include the cable that takes advantage of HD video and HDMI output offered on this model.

BTW my charger is a nice compact unit with a built in plug - nice to avoid yet another charger cable.

I really enjoy using this lens. It is becoming my new go-to lens for everything except distance shots. Great depth of field thanks to the 8 blade bokeh. Definitely recommend this over its cheaper brother. Works amazing in low light and takes super vibrant picture on 1.4. I cannot comment on the durability because I have not had the lens for long. It seems to be sturdier than my tamron lenses.

We got this to replace our Olympus Tough which after a few years of faithful service was been passed down to the teenagers. Having just gotten back from a trip to the national parks in Canada, we could not be happier with it. The camera took great photos (at least to our untrained eyes) in a variety of conditions from sunrise to mid-day from sun to rain, indoors and outdoors, close and distance. With some 900+ snapshots behind us we are very pleased with the quality of both the pictures and the HD movies. Of course the best part of these rugged cameras is that you can take them (as we did) rafting, on the hiking trail, etc. and it is small enough to slip into a back pocket (where it won't break when you accidentally sit on it getting into the car). It already has a few battle scars from drops in the boat and off a mountain bike(doh!) but it survived no problem. And the videos of us going through class IV rapids with the camera recording are priceless. We have a higher-end camera but it is too delicate and too bulky to bring along when you are out in the "wilderness" or on the beach or even just banging around on your bike.

Likes
1) The controls are pretty easy to work - even with gloves on
2) The automatic mode (iA) does a good job of selecting the right scene
3) We had great luck with the image stabilization
4) Very sturdy and absolutely no problems with water (not sure I would take it snorkeling but worked fine for us getting very wet in the lake and in the rivers)
5) Very quick to turn on
6) Did I mention it takes great pictures and video?

Dislikes
1) You have to be careful with the waterproof seals to make sure there is no dirt etc when you close it (i.e. do not change the batteries unless you are in a clean, dry place!) [note to Panasonic: this certainly could be a bit more fool-proof like with two waterproof doors in case one fails]
2) AVCHD Lite was a pain and needed to be converted on my Mac to get into iMovie - initially it imported at the wrong speed and with audio and video out of sync but was salvaged with some downloaded conversion software and two hours of aggravation(I should have listened to the other reviewers and changed format before we started!)
3) You have to wait through that boring little presentation of waterproofing tips when you first turn it on and if you do not go through the whole thing it will keep coming back until you do - so watch all the way through the first time!

Bottom line, we love this camera and we are sure we made the right choice in replacing the old Olympus. You won't be sorry. We paired it with the Transcend 16GB card TS16GSDHC6-P2 and had all the room we needed for a 10 day trip. Enjoy!
