It was quiet and worked thoroughly without sticking or pulling his hair I was very impressed and excited over the fact that it came qick and didnt cost much either. |

I was pretty amazed by the poor reviews of some of the larger brands (ie B&D) and after a while I found this one which seemed to have good ratings. I didn't like the idea of buying this without seeing it in person but but luckily we were able to find the cordless Earthwise CST00012 model at a local store. We all loved the balance and feel as well as the straightforward but effective adjustments that it had. Since my family was insisting on a corded model in order to avoid the battery issues that killed our previous trimmer we figured that it would be safe to order this slightly larger corded model online. As always Amazon delivered fast and for free. Assembly was really easy, needing only to screw on the guard. I did read in other reviews about people losing screws into the motor head and although I could see how this is possible it was not an issue for me. I was cautious and had the trimmer at an angle so that if I did drop any screw (which I didn't) it would have fallen to the ground rather than to the motor. Once assembled the first thing I noticed was the significantly heavier motor head than the cordless model we had held. Everything else was pretty much the same though and that's a good thing. It has the same great adjustments and once you set it up for your size it still has a good balance and feel despite the heavy motor head. It had a good cord hook and definitely has a lot of power. It was easy to use and worked well. The feed seemed to work fine so after trying it out on a small flower bed I moved on to the curb and sidewalk. I tried both the regular mode and the edger mode and was surprised at how effective the edger mode was. It does have one of those little folding metal guides but I found it easier to use without this because as soon as the string gets a little bit shorter than maximum length the guide isn't really putting you in the right place anymore. I suspect this is true for any trimmer so it didn't bother me. I wasn't going to have time to do our entire yard so I moved on to test one last area. Then the problem. I pulled the green plastic collar to rotate the head back to the standard non-edging position and it became loose and some little plastic parts fell out of it. The inside has two plastic white pins and these had sheered off completely. Unfortunately these pins not only control the rotation of the head but also hold together both halves of the trimmer. They support the motor head and all of it's weight and keep it connected to the top half with the handles and cord. At least they did for about 10 minutes. The design was clever but I could see that there was no way to repair it. I was pretty bummed out about this because I actually liked the trimmer a lot. The cordless version was light enough that I think it would be fine but on this heavier corded model I really think they should have used a metal pin. You can get a steel bolt of similar size from a big box store for 10 cents and I would gladly have paid an extra quarter for the extra strength and reliability on such a vital part. I'm not sure if mine had a rare defective part or if this is an inherent weakness in the design but either way I wasn't willing to try again. After doing a little more research I ended up with one of the worst reviewed name brand models and so far it has been working great (though it also cost a little more than this Earthwise did). There is still good news, however. Our new Earthwise trimmer may have broke in half after just 50 feet of extremely light use but at least Amazon handled the return with 5 stars of service. They were nice and helpful on the phone, providing me with everything I needed to return the trimmer. A few days later it arrived back at their warehouse and they were very fast to inform me of the progress and issue a full refund. It's a shame about the trimmer but I can only say positive things about Amazons service. |

I will never put this away without leaving enough of the next towel poking through the dispenser because I can easily pull it up next time. If the towels slip down & you have to retrieve them, it is a wet, goopy affair. It can be done-but watch your knuckles! I will tolerate the dispenser because the towels are great. Terrific solution for cleaning quickly! Wipe down all surfaces in kitchen or bathroom quickly and easily. Great supply from Amazon-no Shipping over $25 all the way to Alaska. They do need to fix that dispenser!!! |
