| Description : | Blizzard Entertainment took online role playing by storm with their hit title, World of Warcraft. With mind-boggling improvements in graphics, gameplay networking, and interface -- really every category -- this game became the crown prince of the genre. World of Warcraft players will be excited by the approaching release of the new expansion pack: World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. This pack expands the already massive, award-winning multiplayer online role-playing game by tremendous bounds, adding new races, lands, battlegrounds, professions and items, and much, much more. Although no release date has been set, here is sample of what you can expect from The Burning Crusade.
The expansion pack features an increase in the level cap to 70. There are two new playable races, including the magical Blood Elves that you can read more about below. The other race has not yet been released by Blizzard. There will be new starting zones in Quel'Thalas and beyond. Another eye-opening addition is the entirely new, unexplored continent of Outland that is reachable through the Dark Portal. Plus, you'll find many new high-level dungeons to explore in Azeroth, Outland, and elsewhere that will substantially boost gameplay. There are new flying mounts in Outland; tons of new and dangerous monsters (including epic world bosses); hundreds of new quests and items; and even a new profession: Jewelcrafting. Of course this isn't the end of the list -- this is just a glimpse of what Blizzard has planned for their unreleased expansion pack. The New Story, the Rumors, and More Although only one race has been revealed, Blizzard has announced plans to unveil details about possible additional races at a later date. On the other hand, many details have been released about the new continent, Outland. Players last visited Outland in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, alongside Illidan as he conquered the Pit Lord Magtheridon's domain. Players will also gain access to Quel'Thalas, the region to the northeast of the Forsaken lands, where the Blood Elves reside. Blizzard says that this expansion pack holds even more new areas that are ripe for player exploration -- additional details will be revealed in the months ahead. Blizzard also has plans to add new dungeons and battlegrounds with the expansion, though the exact number has not yet been determined. One upcoming dungeon that has players excited is Karazhan, which is located within Medivh's tower. Because Medivh has played such a central role in Warcraft lore, Blizzard is convinced that longtime players will be especially interested in seeing what Karazhan contains. As for battlegrounds, Blizzard has released very little information. However, they have announced plans to make some of the battles from the past accessible through the Caverns of Time. Blood Elves: The New Race During the Third War, the villainous Prince Arthas invaded Quel'Thalas and reduced the once-mighty realm to rubble and ashes. His undead army decimated nearly all of the high elven population. In addition, he used the Sunwell's energies to resurrect a powerful undead Lich, Kel'thuzad, thereby fouling the Sunwell's mystical waters. The few elven survivors, realizing that they had been cut off from the source of their arcane power, grew increasingly volatile and desperate. In the midst of the elves' darkest hour came Kael'thas Sunstrider, the last of Quel'Thalas' royal bloodline. Kael, as he was commonly known, knew that the remnant of his people would not long survive without the nourishing magic that once empowered them. Renaming his people "blood elves" in honor of their fallen countrymen, Kael taught the survivors how to tap into ambient mystical energies -- even demonic energies -- in order to sate their terrible thirst for magic. In search of a new destiny for his people, Kael'thas ventured to the remote world of Outland where he encountered the fallen night elf, Illidan. Under Illidan's watchful eye, Kael and his blood elves regained much of their former power. Unfortunately, the blood elves practice of embracing demonic energies caused their former comrades in the Alliance to shun them. Thus, the remaining blood elves on Azeroth look desperately to the Horde to help them reach Outland where they can reunite with Kael'thas and achieve the golden destiny he has promised them. Outland: The New Continent Nearly thirteen years later -- towards the end of the Third War -- the fallen night elf, Illidan, discovered that huge chunks of Draenor still existed, floating upon the astral winds of the Twisting Nether. After his defeat at the hands of the evil Prince Arthas, Illidan fled to the remnants of Draenor and dubbed them "Outland." He quickly seized control of the chaotic region and sealed the last of Ner'zhul's gateways. Though he is the undisputed ruler of the ravaged land, Illidan lives in fear that he will be discovered by his powerful enemies -- most notably Arthas, the new Lich King, and the remaining Lords of the Burning Legion. For now, Outland is home to a number of scattered draenei tribes, primitive orcs, and powerful, arcane creatures of the Nether itself. Agents of the Burning Legion have also targeted the region as a vital strategic location in their unending Burning Crusade to scour all life from the universe. What else can expected? Blizzard has tantalized Warcraft players with the brief glimpse into The Burning Crusade's storyline. Will these heroes find friends or foes? What dangers and rewards lie in wait beyond the Dark Portal? And what will they do when they discover that the demons they thought were vanquished have returned to renew their terrible Burning Crusade? These and other questions will remain unanswered until the gameplay can be explored by role-playing Warcrafters. | |||||||
| Reviews : { Rating: 4.5 out of 5 } | Lots of fun, but takes time This expansion adds little in the way of improved graphics, but adds zones past level 60. The zones are a lot of fun to play in, but anyone who wants to play World of Warcraft and the expansion should be prepared that, if played the way Blizzard intends, it is fairly time consuming. However, I like this game so much that I rarely play my other games anymore. Excellent gameplay, excellent UI, and good graphics. | |||||||

Against the encroaching desolation of an infernal realm, the people of Elona will need more than a hero to save them, they will need a hero to lead them... For nightfall is at hand. |
| Reviews : { Rating: 4.5 out of 5 } | I Need a Hero! Guild Wars: Nightfall is the third chapter of the Guild Wars saga, and a welcome relief to those who weren't happy with Factions. There are some tweaks that incorporate some of the second outing, but offers its own twist to the gameplay. This particular world (Elona) is set in an African-esque setting, and introduces the player to two new classes to the eight previous. The Dervish, a melee fighter that also incorporates a bit of spellcasting, and the Paragon, a spellcaster that incorporates a bit of ranged fighting. Those who have played either of the first two chapters (or crazed individuals like my husband and myself, both campaigns) will find the setup familiar-- PvP (Player vs Player), GvG (Guild vs Guild) or PvE (the player follows a storyline that involves completion of the smaller quests and larger missions). Like Factions, the storyline will branch off at set points, and have the completion catagories of Standard, Expert, and Masters. Unlike Factions, most of the missions aren't based only on time-- you have the primary mission objective (good enough for the Standard award and you can go forward with the storyline) and special bonus objectives (depending on how much you've completed gives you the Expert or the Masters award). This alone we found as a great improvement, as we found the timed missions sometimes very hard to get the Masters rating. One of the best features is the addition of Heros (with many apologies to Bonnie Tyler, how I came up with the title of this review). Heros are aquired through quests, and are NPCs that you can control. That means that you can set the levels of their different attributes, give them really cool weapons, tweak their armor, and give them skills that can help you complete quests much easier then relying on the henchmen that you can still get in the towns/outposts. You can get a wide variety of professions, and twice you get a choice between two heros-- the one you choose can affect your gameplay in PvE, so choose wisely. Another feature to Nightfall is the use of inscriptions for weapons, and insignias for armor. The only real problem I've had with the game is that there's a bit more grinding (going into the explorable areas over and over again to kill monsters) then I thought I had to do in either game, which slows down the storyline for me. But it's a small quibble, as I've found the game enjoyable overall, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this game to anyone who enjoys RPing online. |

| Reviews : { Rating: 4.5 out of 5 } | Morrowind: A Good Game Morrowind is one of the games that fall under the category of games with huge worlds but mediocre graphics. The world of Morrowind is so huge I have used dozens of cheats to move faster, teleport, etc and I still haven't explored a quarter of it. I've player for 100+ hours. The world is so variable you can go on forever. The storyline is excellent but can get boring at times. I don't follow the storyline so I have more fun. The number of side quests is huge and must amount to hundreds. For the cons the graphics for people are not great and the graphics have some problems. when you walk up stairs you appear to be floating and when things die on uneven surfaces they tend to float. The voice acting is pretty bad and the people have a small vocabulary. I love how it is basically unscripted and you can do almost anything in any order. All in all this is one of the best open ended RPGs ever made. |

| Reviews : { Rating: 4.5 out of 5 } | RPG Game for Non-Gamers I'm not normally a person who plays videogames, and hardly one who likes RPGs. I usually start them and leave them halfway because I lose interest. I picked this game up on a whim, since I had heard a lot of good things about it. I wasn't expecting much, but Tales of the Abyss consistently kept me interested and on the edge of my seat. The battle system is extremely fun, the story is very engaging and heartfelt, and the cast is full of colorful and complex characters. Even for someone who gets tired of games quickly, I never got tired of this one. I recommend it highly, even if you aren't someone who likes games that much like myself. |

| Reviews : { Rating: 4.0 out of 5 } | A true rival to Blizzard's Diablo This game is amazing and I never tire of playing it. I found the original "Sacred" for $9.99 at Walmart and decided to try it out. I was not disappointed. This game has so much going on. There are quests, sub quests and seven characters to try out including a battle mage, a dwarf and a dameon. I've played as each and since the gameplay changes slightly with each character I have yet to finish an entire game. This is why I love it. You don't have to follow the quests exactly and this can mean loads of fun. The overall world of Ancara is so big I wonder if I'll ever explore it all. Try out "Saced" Gold it has both the Ancaria and underworld games and you can import characters. It never gets old and the game itself is beautifully designed. |
