My boys ages 21 months, 4.5, & 6.5 really enjoyed this disney film. It is very colorful w/ beautiful animation set in New Orleans. Lots of songs throughout to keep the little ones interested. Good story and happy ending as well. About an hour and 40 minutes long. I'd recommend it, may purchase if price falls. Wide-screen image (1.78:1) fills the whole TV screen !

My husband and I got hooked on Midsommer Murders a few years back and have every single episode of the series that is available. Not only do we love them, we watch them over and over and believe it or not sometimes we even forget who was the murderer when we haven't watched an episode for a while. We find ourselves laughing out loud, still, at some of the comments made by Barnaby or his side kick. It is quite an enjoyable series and I highly recommend it to mystery lovers everywhere. We are even thinking about taking a trip to the area ourselves one day and visit the sites where they shot these.

We toured Disney's MGM/Hollywood Studios when this was being filmed. My husband who loves all things about the Space Program was disappointed to find out it was going to be on HBO because we didn't have it. He also loved Ron Howard, Tom Hanks and Apollo 13 so he was so excited when I surprised him with this collection. He has watched it twice already going back to find things he missed the first time.

What more can be said about Cirque Du Soleil than "spectacular?" The fine mesh of artistry, music, imagination, athleticism, dance, conceptualization . . . just not enough adjectives in the language to describe even one Cirque performance no less a collection. I've attended a couple of live performances that were, likewise, a sensory extravaganza. But one factor taints a live performance: there is absolutely no way your eyes and ears can appreciate EVERYTHING that is going on around the whole stage. You would have to attend multiple performances of the same show to take EVERYTHING in since a CdS show has every visible performer performing 100% of the time adding to the emotion of the show. At least with a recorded medium with multiple camera angles, cutaways and bonus footage of what goes on offstage, only then can you fully appreciate the artistry, dedication, hard work and creativity of the most entertaining show(s) in the history of theater, music and athletic performance! Have a bad day? Pop in a Cirque DVD, recline and the world goes away for at least 90 minutes. Buy at least one CdS DVD or enter heaven with the entire collection.

Surprising because Tom Cruise apparently took some critical knocks but, here, they aren't warranted. Cruise, in an unexpectedly effective turn from the kind of work with which he is most associated, comes up with an effective and even convincing performance as the Nazi-era German Col. Claus von Stauffenberg who directs an attempt to save literally all of Eurpoe by killing his boss - his Fuhrer, Adolph Hitler. Based on actual events that came to a head July 20, 1944, when a bomb that was planted with Hitler standing only feet away failed to hit its target, Valkyrie was the German code name of the operation to be implemented to keep Hitler's Germany on the Fuhrer's course in the event of his death. The plot, the last known of 15 attempts by German resistant forces to kill Hitler and his vision for the country, is arguably the best known to history as cited in memorials throughout Berlin honoring the lives of the conspirators. This film version, incredibly well acted with a stellar cast that includes Terence Stamp, Kenneth Branagh and the always-superb Tom Wilkinson, comes across with passion, compassion, historic accuracy and a sense of respect for those German military men who snubbed their loyalty oath to Hitler in an attempt to close what they saw even then to be one of the darkest chapters in human history. The film didn't slay any giants at the box office or come close to blockbuster status. That's a shame, if for no other reason than the historic importance of the film didn't hit a mass audience. The film deserved a better commerical showing, and perhaps it will find its just due in the home DVD market. Also unfortunate is the critical slam Cruise was dealt; it isn't justified. Literally within weeks of the failed July 20 plot, most of its architects were executed; ironically, just nine months later, with Berlin surounded by the Red Army and the threat of other Allied forces nearing, Hitler committed suicide. The viewer who is unfamiliar with the history of the event probably will not fully appreciate the film's purpose and message, but so it goes with any other movie based on historic events. This film is too important to be missed if for no other reason than to show that not all the men and women in Hitler's regime shared the evil that cloaked their Fuhrer.

Inspired by Ivy's "philosophy" of pushing all boundaries, Lily decides to explore the dark side of herself, which basically boils down to her chasing after a petulant, self-absorbed sculptor (Johnathon Schaech) and in turn being chased by her leacherous, self-absorbed art teacher. The point of movies like Ivy 2 is to have some fun, a few thrills, and we're done, thank you very much. But the filmmakers felt obliged to lard this thing up with ponderous pretension and Artistic Angst. The result is sort of a cross between Bikini Med School and La Notte, with a happy ending tacked on. Bleh. Milano tries her best to inject a little life and humanity into the proceedings, but it's an uphill climb all the way. --Geof Miller

Well, you know you've waited your whole life for this disc.

First, you get the original, classic Poison Ivy movie, with a slutty Drew Barrymore (was that redundant?) tossing a monkey wrench into a family's life.

Then it's on to Poison Ivy 2: Lily, a must-have for Alyssa Milano fans. This time, an innocent young woman (Milano, of course) finds herself led down the road to unsavory temptations, none of which involve the study of, say, systematic theology. What any of this has to do with the original Ivy is anybody's guess. But let's face it, you don't watch a movie like this expecting a good dramatization of the difference between predestination and predestinarianism.

Finally, to round out a trilogy that puts The Lord of the Rings to shame (...not really), we have Poison Ivy 3: The New Seduction, as though there hadn't been enough pointless seductions the first two times out. This one stars the fetching Jamie Pressly as Ivy, or Ivy's spirit, or whoever the hell she plays; I can't remember. But I do remember that she spends a fair amount of time undressing...if you like that sort of thing.

All three movies are unrated, but don't get too excited; there's considerable nudity but about as much eroticism as a tax return.
