| Description : | When it was released during Hollywood's golden year of 1939,The Wizard of Oz didn't start out as the perennial classic it has since become. The film did respectable business, but it wasn't until its debut on television that this family favorite saw its popularity soar. And while Oz's TV broadcasts are now controlled by media mogul Ted Turner (who owns the rights), the advent of home video has made this lively musical a mainstay in the staple diet of great American films. Young Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland), her dog, Toto, and her three companions on the Yellow Brick Road to Oz--the Tin Man (Jack Haley), the Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr), and the Scarecrow (Ray Bolger)--have become pop-culture icons and central figures in the legacy of fantasy for children. As the Wicked Witch who covets Dorothy's enchanted ruby slippers, Margaret Hamilton has had the singular honor of scaring the wits out of children for more than six decades. The film's still as fresh, frightening, and funny as it was when first released. It may take some liberal detours from the original story by L. Frank Baum, but it's loyal to the Baum legacy while charting its own course as a spectacular film. Shot in glorious Technicolor, befitting its dynamic production design (Munchkinland alone is a psychedelic explosion of color and décor), The Wizard of Oz may not appeal to every taste as the years go by, but it's required viewing for kids of all ages. --Jeff Shannon |
| Reviews : { Rating: 4.5 out of 5 } | A Classic I have watched this movie for almost 50 years and still love it. It always brings back good memories of my past. My kids watched it and enjoyed it also, can't go wrong with the Wizard od OZ... |

| Reviews : { Rating: 4.5 out of 5 } | Guy Pratt ruins an amazing Pink Floyd performance It's brilliant to watch this again. Brings back fond memories of the few times I was lucky enough to see them play. The show really was out of this world. It's a shame that the session bassist "Guy Pratt" completely misses the sense of Pink Floyd's bass sound and makes many of the songs sound more like Level 42. Jesus - stop slapping the damn thing man! It's just awful! One star deducted for that! Also - it's a real shame it's in 4:3 format or HD - I guess they didn't think widescreen was going to catch on in 1995 when it was filmed. Each set must have cost millions... you'd think they might have had the sense to use real film instead of 'high quality' video! Bad move! |

Comedy superstar Amy Poehler (Saturday Night Live, Baby Mama) stars as Leslie Knope, an ambitious and hopeful small town government worker, whose dreams are way bigger than her political talents. Created by Primetime Emmy® Award winners Greg Daniels (The Office, King of the Hill, The Simpsons) and Michael Schur (The Office, SNL), and featuring a stellar ensemble cast, Parks and Recreation is a “genuinely funny comedy” (Daniel Carlson, Hollywood Reporter) about bureaucracy, hope and America at the dawn of the Obama age. |
| Reviews : { Rating: 3.5 out of 5 } | Kinda meh but gettin funnier with each episode This was a greatly anticipated show for our household and we felt a little let down by this first season. The second season, however, proved to be a triumph of hilarity so we bought the first to have the set. |

| Description : | On the mystical island of Themyscira, a proud and fierce warrior race of Amazons have raised a daughter of untold beauty, grace and strength Princess Diana. When an Army fighter pilot, Steve Trevor, crash-lands on the island, the rebellious and headstrong Diana defies Amazonian law by accompanying Trevor back to civilization. Meanwhile, Ares (the god of War) has escaped his imprisonment at the hands of the Amazonians and has decided to exact his revenge - intending to start a world war that will not only last for centuries but will wipe out every living being on the planet, starting with the Amazons! It is up to Princess Diana to save her people and the world by using her gifts and becoming the ultimate Wonder Woman! |
| Reviews : { Rating: 4.5 out of 5 } | The Ultimate Warrior Princess Yay! Finally a Wonder Woman movie! Sadly DTV will probably be the only way we ever see the character in a film as Warner Bros. keeps turning down scripts. Fortunately the story is original whereas the first two were adaptations and the third serving as a semi-bridge between "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight". Utilizing Wonder Woman's supporting cast is a brilliant move seeing as how Timm never really used the Amazons very well, especially Queen Hippolyta. She always came off as an wooden and didn't really scream "Warrior Queen" to me. Come to think of it, all of the Amazons never seemed like great warriors in JL/JLU! They were always being beaten back by Felix Faust or some other magic spell. But thanks to the brilliant opening battle sequence, I was reassured of their prowess in battle. In fact, the Amazons are such great warriors that blood never stains their swords after stabbing or cutting someone's head off. Wonder Woman's powers are present except flight which at least is a reason why she uses the Invisible Jet (though the reason why the Amazons have it is a mystery though I think its technology is based on Themyiscara's cloaking device). Sadly, the way Diana just takes off her outer clothes to get into her outfit is just boring. I know the producers probably wanted to distance themselves from the "Wonder Spin" that Lynda Carter did but that has since been incorporated into the comics and was even used in JLU. If a live-action film is ever decided upon, I hope they take a cue from this movie. Just because the character originated during WWII, doesn't mean the movie has to take place there nor does it have to take place in modern or mythological times. This movie honors her history by using Wonder Woman's mythological background while having her story set in modern times. Again the animation is great (I'm just gonna say that the animation in the other films is great so that way I don't have to say the same thing over and over). All of the Amazons look good but Wonder Woman suffers the same as Superman from Doomsday. She looks too similar to her Justice League model, which is odd because in Crisis on Two Earths she looks different from her JL model. Ares makes for a great villain and his visual suits him (much better than the JLU model), though his upgraded form kind of borders on the ridiculous. Though why Hades is the size of Jabba the Hutt is confusing as all of the statues I've ever seen of him depict him with a slim build. Andrea Romano gives us another great cast. Keri Russell is perfect as Wonder Woman, Susan Eisenberg from JL seemed wooden several times throughout season one (then again, season one of JL was a very iffy season and she did improve). Nathan Fillion is also good as Steve Trevor, ably making him a chauvinistic pig but he has a sense of humor. Alfred Molina was a wonderful choice as Ares, adding yet another comic villain to his resumé. He brings a sense of menace to him (which was something Michael York failed to do in JLU). Virginia Madsen, again a perfect choice for Hippolyta. She plays the queen with diginity, elegance and a ferocity in battle. I don't know who they picked for JL, but they should've picked Madsen from the start, she at least projected emotion. Rosario Dawson is just alright as Artemis. She was a decent choice but most of the time, she's over the top and wooden |

| Reviews : { Rating: 4.0 out of 5 } | It's flawed, but it's worth seeing... For a film that is overly long in parts, drug out in others and at times a tad confusing (if you are not familiar with the subject matter) the riveting performances help bolster us along, keeping us more than entertained. I am obviously not as enthusiastic about the film as a whole as some people here, but I do admit that it is certainly worth your time and Neeson's brilliant performance should have netted him an Oscar. The film revolves around the Irish Republic and their war with British troops in Ireland. At times the film can be hard to follow, mainly for those of us not familiar with Irish history. As far as the history part goes, I was blind walking in. Either they didn't bother to broach this in my school, or I wasn't paying attention (which could have very well been the case, since history was not a favorite subject of mine). I'm a little disappointed in myself at that, since I am now rather engaged by history and wish I knew a little more than I do. That said, the film does a good job of attempting to illuminate us all, even the ones who don't know right from left. While it never gets down to spelling everything out for us, it does try and give us enough backdrop so that we can draw our own conclusions. This works and then again doesn't work. We are drawn into Collins' world (albeit not as richly as I would have liked), but the film does tend to get tiresome at times. It feels, at moments, to be long winded. The romantic sub-plot seemed like an afterthought for me. I wasn't too keen on its inclusion and actually feel that, had it been stripped, the film would have progressed along at a more admirable pace without losing any of the back-story needed to keep the audience informed. One thing that cannot be knocked is the tremendous acting by (nearly) the entire cast. Even the small roles filled by the likes of Stephen Rea are fleshed out thanks to some dedicated performances. Julia Roberts, while suffering from my least favorite `plot point' in the film, delivers an admirable performance, and doe-eyed Aidan Quinn serves as a nice contrast to the righteous indignation dripping off of Neeson. I actually love Alan Rickman, but I do find it slightly off-putting that he is generally typecast as the `creepy bad guy'. Yes, his voice is eerie, but some of his best performances come when he is playing totally against type (see his stunning performance in `Sense and Sensibility' and even `Love, Actually'). This is not my favorite performance by him, and in fact I found the `obviousness' about his characters loyalties to be a deterrent to the film itself. And then there is Liam Neeson, who just commands every frame with a thick fervor that is just engrossing to witness. He takes this character and makes him so rich and so relatable and in the end so endearing. You want him to win! In the end this is definitely a film to see, especially if you are a history buff and or a fan of this genre in particular. The film maintains a serious and almost espionage tone, which is enjoyable, and the performances by nearly everyone in the cast is more than enough to satisfy the audience. |

But now, the city's foundations are crumbling, eaten away by corruption and excess...And two soldiers unwittingly become entwined in historical events, their fates inexorably tied to the fate of Rome itself. The entire award-winning, critically-acclaimed series will be available as a Blu-ray gift set, just in time for the holiday season. |
| Reviews : { Rating: 4.5 out of 5 } | OUTSTANDING This is a great miniseries. It is very seductive, sexual, and dramatic. The acting is first rate and the series is visually stunning. This miniseries isn't for the faint of heart. It is for adults and you will get a sense of what Roman life was like. It isn't pretty. The story takes a lot of liberties with history, but you will get a felling of what Julius Caesar and Marc Antony may have went through over 2000 year ago. You follow 2 soldiers throughout the series and how they witness history in the making. This miniseries is never boring and you will enjoy each episode. I found the story and writing better than the Soprano's. At least the ending is satisfying. Highly recommend this series for your collection. |

| Reviews : { Rating: 3.0 out of 5 } | Another strange Land of the Lost Rated PG-13. 101 minutes. Most of us over the age of 45, remember a time of innocence and decency in our lives. Saturday morning television was our time. That was when they broadcast the tv shows that were made for us young kids. Their was H.R. Pufnstuf - The Complete Series (1969-71), Bugaloos Complete Episodes 1 to 17 (4pc) [VHS] (1970-72), Lidsville - Complete Series (1971-73), Shazam (1974-77), The Secrets of Isis - The Complete Series (1975-77), The Lost Saucer - Vol. 1 [VHS] (1975-76). One tv program that was a must-see on NBC was Land of the Lost: Complete Series (Limited Edition Gift Set) (1974-76), starring Specer Milligan, Wesley Eure, Kathy Coleman, Philip Paley. It was like a soap opera for kids. We couldn't wait to see the next episode next week. Sid & Marty Krofft tried a new Land of the Lost (1991) - Tasha/Something's Watching [VHS] in 1991-92 with a new cast and modern special effects. Now the Krofft's bring back Land of the Lost as a motion picture. Instead of the adventurers being a family, Will Ferrell is "Rick Marshall", a wacked-out paleontologist, Anna Friel as "Holly", a graduate student, Danny McBride as "Will", an owner of a roadside man-made haunted cave. Jorma Taccone (Saturday Night Live) is "Chaka". Option of Language: English, Spanish, French Option of Subtitles: English, Spanish, French Option of Descriptive Video Service Audio Commenty, 3 deleted scenes, 2 featurettes. Wesley Eure and Kathy Coleman did film a cameo appearance for a scene towards the end of the movie, however it was deleted from the movie and a new ending was filmed. This deleted cameo appearance is not on this DVD. Wesley Eure did not know they had done this until he saw the movie at the World Premiere. They did not invite Kathy Coleman to the World Premiere. Wesley Eure felt more shunning as he was invited to the 7th TV Land Awards (2009) to see a tribute to Sid & Marty Krofft. They did not reserve a seat for him to sit up front in camera range, but in the back, in the balcony. Due to the public outcry of this film, especially from the original "Land of the Lost" fans, Sid & Marty Krofft may have dumped their plans for a new "H.R Pufnstuf" movie and "Sigmud and the Sea Monsters" movie. We shall see. Leonard Nimoy's voice is "Zarn". |
